Dr. Antonella Dost studied Medical Biology in Essen, Germany(2010–2015). For her Master's thesis, she joined Fernando Camargo’s lab at Harvard Medical School in Boston, where she explored the role of Hipposignaling in Hedgehog-driven basal cell carcinoma. After completing her Master's, Nella spent six months as an intern at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel, Switzerland. She then returned to Boston for her PhD, joining Carla Kim’s lab at Harvard Medical School (2016–2021) to study early-stage lung adenocarcinoma using murine lung organoids. Following her PhD, Nella moved back to Europe and joined Hans Clevers’ lab in the Netherlands as a postdoctoral researcher (2021–present). There, she established a human organoidmodel for alveolar regeneration, which she uses to investigate epithelial dysfunction in inflammatory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In addition to her research, Nella is a RESPIRE4 fellow and an active member of the European Respiratory Society.

Dr. Simone Hashimoto is a Brazilian pediatric pulmonologist who has been residing in the Netherlands since 2006 as a clinical researcher. She earned her PhD in 2019 at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in severe asthma. Currently, she works as a postdoctoral researcher in the Respiratory Medicine department at Amsterdam UMC and in the Pediatric Respiratory department at EKZ (Amsterdam UMC). Additionally, Simone serves as the coordinator for the Dutch Registry for Patients with Severe Asthma (RAPSODI) and the Pediatric Dutch Registry for children with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) (TREAT chILD).
