As widely known and presently often in the news earlier this year the new European privacy law has been put into practice after being launched earlier. This evokes many questions for hospitals and also for (human) research. In such research this law has consequences considering that such research in general includes biomaterials and / or data about patients. Quite some attention has been paid to this by the Federa (“Federation of Dutch Medical Scientific Societies) and its legal part called Coreon. Much interesting and important information is found on the Federa- website Partly in Dutch, most links in English): https://www.federa.org/2018-de-nieuwe-avg-wat-betekent-dit-voor-onderzoekers
In addition see the website of the Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure (BBMRI-NL), that also has a lot of info and also “frequently asked questions”: https://www.bbmri.nl/elsi/faq_eu_gdpr/
