NRS Webinar on Innovative Approaches
The upcoming NRS Webinar will take place on 3 November 2022 12:30-13:00 with the theme Innovative Approaches.
Our speakers will be Firdaus Mohamed Hoesein from UMC Utrecht and Mandy van Gulijk from the Erasmus MC.
The title of their talks will be:
- "Quantitative radiology in lung disease: past, current and future perspectives" (Dr. Firdaus Mohamed Hoesein)
- "PD-L1 checkpoint blockade promotes regulatory T-cell activity which underlies therapy resistance" (Mandy van Gulijk)
Dr. Firdaus Mohamed Hoesein is a cardio-thoracic radiologist. He studied medicine at Utrecht University. In 2012, he received his PhD for a study on the role of automatic quantification of emphysema and airway disease on chest CT scans. He trained as a radiologist at UMC Utrecht and Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein and completed his training in 2017. He then further specialized in thoracic radiology through a one-year fellowship in thoracic radiology at UMC Utrecht. Dr. Firdaus Mohamed Hoesein's research focuses on innovative ways to (automatically) assess CT scans and MRI scans, including through the use of artificial intelligence. In doing so, he focuses particularly on COPD, lung cancer, small airway diseases and interstitial lung diseases.
Mandy van Gulijk is currently finishing her PhD training and starting as a Postdoctoral researcher in the research group of Prof. Dr. Joachim Aerts at the Erasmus Medical Center. Her research is mainly focused on the identification of the mechanisms underlying resistance to immune checkpoint blockade, primarily in lung cancer and mesothelioma. “My interests include translational preclinical research to identify therapeutic targets that can be used to improve the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade in the clinic”.
Please save the date and link to the webinar will be provided on the day of the webinar via the NRS News Flash. Hope to see you all soon!
